Full-Time
Church Description [Additional church information]
Chinese Baptist Church of Coral Springs (CBCCS) is an evangelical Chinese church located on the southern edge of the city of Coral Springs. A lush suburban city of 134,000 people, Coral Springs is 20 miles northwest of Ft. Lauderdale, a hub of south Florida. The church began in 1992 as a gospel mission of the Chinese Baptist Church of Miami, whose founding pastor, Pastor Kwong-Wah Lau, whose vision was to reach out to the Chinese community in Broward County. In the 1990s and 2000s, the church enjoyed solid growth under the leadership of late Pastor Linus Lau, culminating in a new church building in 1999, which was again expanded to the present day 19,600 sq. ft. facility in 2008. Pastor Keh Yong Tan was called in 2017 to serve the church as Senior Pastor.
The English ministry consists of about 70 members and has three main weekly fellowship groups: 1. young single adults and college students (YAF), 2. young couples including those with and without children and those not yet married but pursing serious relationships (YCF), and 3. an adult fellowship including married and singles (LSEF). The members are 1st and 2nd generation Chinese immigrants and a mix of multi-ethnic members including Caucasians and members with backgrounds from Latin America and the Caribbean islands. The English ministry began in 2002 to meet the needs of the English-speaking participants from the Chinese congregations. The first full-time English pastor was called in 2010 and served until 2021 when he and his family was called to another ministry.
CBCCS also has a youth group fellowship of about 30 participants consisting of English-speaking youths and children from mostly 1st and 2nd generation Asian parents. A full-time youth director oversees the weekly fellowship and Sunday School for this group. We also have a very strong children’s ministry. Children thrive and grow in God’s grace here. Our Sunday school boasts a class for special needs children. During holidays, children bring their friends to throng our hallways as we are a multi-generational, family-oriented church. Outside the worship hours, our communal activities revolve around numerous fellowship groups meeting Friday evenings, Saturdays, and Sunday afternoons.
The English Ministry is a vital component of our church, ministering to Asian-Americans and English-speaking members from the diverse community of South Florida. With the recent departure of the English pastor who was called to another church ministry, we are seeking an English pastor with a heart and passion to lead and shepherd the English congregation of CBCCS.
