Position Sought: Pastor
Interested in Serving in: Either New York or New Jersey
Type of Position Sought: Full-Time
Description of Position Sought:
I am writing to express my strong interest in the pastoral position at your church. With over 20 years of dedicated experience in preaching, teaching, and leading congregations across both China and the United States, I am eager to bring my passion for pastoral ministry and deep understanding of theological principles to your community.
Education:
My educational journey has equipped me with a solid foundation in theology and biblical studies. I hold a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Princeton Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute. Additionally, I am currently pursuing a Master of Theology at Vanderbilt University. My extensive academic background has fueled my passion for contextualizing the Gospel within Asian cultures, and I strive to deliver sermons that resonate with both spiritual depth and practical application.
Work Experience:
In the United States, I have served in various pastoral roles that have deepened my experience in ministering to diverse congregations. At the Chinese Christian Union Church in Chicago, I served as a Pastoral Intern, where I assisted with worship services, preached regularly, and coordinated youth outreach programs. My time there gave me valuable insight into multi-language ministries and the challenges of ministering in a multicultural urban context.
Upon completing my education in the United States, I returned to China as a reverse missionary, committed to strengthening the Chinese church. I served as an Associate Professor at China Christian Seminary in Beijing, where I taught biblical hermeneutics and homiletics, supervised students' research projects, and conducted seminars on a wide range of theological topics. My role allowed me to influence the next generation of Christian leaders by developing a robust curriculum and fostering an environment of academic excellence.
In parallel, I served as a Pastor at New City Christian Church in FangShan, Beijing. Here, I delivered monthly sermons to a congregation of approximately 100 members, provided pastoral care, and led Bible studies and outreach initiatives. My pastoral journey also includes roles as a Pastor at Zhongguancun Church, where I significantly expanded the congregation, and as a Pastoral Intern at Chinese Christian Union Church in Chicago, where I gained valuable experience in multi-language ministries. I am proficient in managing teams, developing strategic initiatives, and navigating the complexities of church administration.
My experience in the United States also includes leading multi-language ministries, where I utilized my bilingual fluency in English and Chinese to connect with diverse congregations. I have participated in various community service projects, including relief work after the Sichuan earthquake and volunteering at an orphanage in Beijing. My strong pastoral care and counseling skills, combined with my ability to engage congregants of all ages and backgrounds, have been key to my ministry success.
