| English Ministry Pastor / Church Planter: Full Time |
| Ministry Description : EFC-BC can be broadly classified into two language/cultural groups, although the dividing lines are somewhat blurred. Despite this, we are very united and currently meet as one congregation, with side-by-side English and Mandarin translations for our services. First, we have a very active Taiwanese/Chinese ministry, consisting of young and middle-aged professionals, elderly folk, and many foreign students studying in our area. There are several active weekly Bible studies for this group. The Church, under Pastor Steve Huang’s leadership, has been able to reach out very effectively to many Chinese speaking students in our area. Secondly, we have a smaller more contemporary English-based ministry with three or four professional families, a growing number of young professional singles and graduate students, a few college students, and many youth and children. In addition to our worship service, which is translated into English, we have a Sunday School for the youth, a youth group on Fridays, and a biweekly young adults meeting. Though the Church as a whole is predominantly of Taiwanese descent, most of the English ministry identifies strongly with American culture, especially those born here or who arrived as children. As a Church, we see a need to strengthen the English ministry and better cater to the needs of this group. Recently our Pastor has articulated the need to develop a self-supporting English ministry which includes a foundation of young professionals and married couples between the ages of 18-35 years old. Pastor Huang and the Deacons see the long-term future of EFC-BC in this segment of the congregation. We hope we can develop a stronger and more independent English congregation to meet the needs of this group, their friends, and many American Born Asian young professionals and couples in our region. Our vision is to have an English speaking congregation, while still maintaining a strong connection with the Taiwanese congregation. We seek an English ministry Pastor who is able to encourage us in our faith towards this goal and provide the leadership and support needed to help us each use our gifts to build up the Church. This is not a traditional Pastor position where there is already a large established English Ministry. It is more of a Church planting opportunity that will require a lot of prayer and hard work. We have a core of very committed people who continue to work together in achieving this vision. The initial contract will be for two years, with a review at that point. It is our intention to establish a long-term self-supporting English Ministry. |
| Ministry Requirements : A Seminary graduate with previous Pastoral and/or Church planting experience is preferred.
